Traffic P.O.A. #2

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
Hi. Welcome to my latest Traffic Plan of Action.

The idea behind these plans is that they take seemingly complex traffic strategies and break them down into their component parts so that you can see for yourself how easily they can be executed.

Today we're going to look at how you can use ebooks with Private Label Rights (PLR) to drive traffic to your website.

Let's get started…

Step 1:
Find an ebook — or a series of articles — related to the topic of the website you want to promote.

If you can't find anything specifically related to your website's subject, perhaps you can find something that appeals to the same target market? For example, if your website deals with baby care, an ebook on baby food or dealing with colic or general parenting will reach a lot of the same people you're aiming to attract.

There are plenty of sources of PLR ebooks and articles out there. Here's a couple to get you started…

PLR Wholesaler: the free version has lots to offer, but the full version is simply excellent.
Private-Label-Content.net: A collection of 15,000 articles across a vast range of subjects.

Run a few searches on Google for plr ebooks, plr content, private label articles, private label ebooks and so on to find plenty more sources.

If you really can't find anything to fit your target market, you could go for the 'broad appeal' approach. Basically, this means using a topic that appeals to so many people, that it will hit some of your target market as well. The Hilarious Jokes Ebook (with PLR) that I recently released is a good example of this.

Once you've located an ebook — or collection of articles — be sure to read them to verify that the quality is up to scratch. Feel free to edit them to remove any errors or, simply, to make them your own.

Step 2:
Open the ebook (or compile the articles) in your favorite text editor, such as MS Word. Add your links/advertising for your website towards the beginning and, (this is IMPORTANT), make it clear to the reader that he/she is allowed to give it away to their family, friends, website visitors, Twitter followers and so on.
— Sidenote —
You could take this a step further and make the ebook brandable — that is, allow other readers to add a link of their own into the ebook before passing it on. This has the advantage of giving readers a greater incentive to give it to others, thus increasing your exposure. On the downside, it adds extra work for you when working on this POA, so you might want to skip it — at least for now.

If you DO want to make it brandable, you might find this tutorial (which includes a Word template) useful:

— End Sidenote —

Step 3:
Compile it into a PDF.

If you're not yet equipped for making PDFs, you'll find this blog post useful:

If you really want to give your PDF that extra professional touch, Frank Haywood's "Perfect Ebook" is about as good as it gets:

Step 4:
Start giving it away.

Offer it for free on your website — either as a direct download or to grow your opt-in list. Offer it to your Facebook friends. Offer it to your Twitter followers. Submit it to ebook directories and download sites. Offer it to other websites operating in the same market as you are.

In short, offer it anywhere and everywhere you can.

That's it! That's all there is to it.

Now that you've read this to the end, why not go back up to step one and get started? Within an hour or two you could have an ebook that's ready to start sending long-term targeted traffic to your site.

When you've done it nnce — and realize how easy it is — you'll want to do it again. And the good news is, it will be a lot easier and quicker next time around because you've got all the basics in place: the ebook layout, your ads/links, etc…

Before I sign off, here's a nice download for you. It's a PDF ebook that explains how to use PLR products to create money-making small reports. Click here to download it (217 Kb).

I hope you found this useful.

All the best,

Michael

Traffic P.O.A. #1

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Hi. Welcome to the very first Ebook Times Traffic P.O.A.!

The idea behind the Traffic P.O.A. series is that it helps you generate more traffic to your website by DOING rather than just reading about doing.

It’s a Plan Of Action — it’s not a theoretical idea that you might get around to implementing tomorrow, or next week, or next year…

So, if you’re not in a position to set aside a little time right away to implement this P.O.A., then stop reading now. You’ll just be wasting your time for no good reason.

Let’s face it, you’ve already READ tons of traffic-generating tactics, but how many of them have you actually tried out?

Exactly.

So, like I said, if you’re not planning on following these steps right NOW, there’s no point in continuing.

Are you still with me?

Great! Let’s get started.

For this first P.O.A., we’re going to start with something that’s easy to implement and will result in getting multiple backlinks to your website. While these backlinks might not necessarily bring in a lot of direct traffic (from people clicking your links), they WILL boost your search-engine rankings which will result in more/better traffic in the medium to long term.

Now, if you’re sitting there thinking, “Sheesh, that’s no good, I want something that will bring me direct traffic right NOW” then ask yourself this…

“If I started implementing this simple strategy a year ago, how much more search engine traffic would I be getting today?”

The point is, the efforts you make now, start paying off little by little. Keep making the efforts and the pay-off will continue to grow. On the other hand, if you sit back and wait for the ‘magic traffic bullet’, then you’ll still be waiting in 6 months.

Today’s strategy involves getting backlinks by leaving comments on blogs that are related to the theme of your website.

Step 1 (5 minutes): Download and install a free copy of Comment Kahuna from here. Comment Kahuna is software that enables you to locate relevant blogs where you can leave comments and, basically, it helps speed up the whole process without getting into the kind of ’spammy’ territory that you might associate with ’fully-automated’ software. (You need to opt-in to download Comment Kahuna, but there are no OTOs or upsells. And, of course, you can easily unsubscribe again by hitting the link at the bottom of the follow-up email.)

Step 2 (2 minutes): Open Comment Kahuna. Enter your first name, last name and email address and then click the ‘Register’ button. Now, check your email inbox for the email containing the unlock code. Enter the code in Comment Kahuna and click the ‘Unlock’ button.

You’re now ready to get started generating backlinks to your website.

Step 3 (30 minutes): Using Comment Kahuna, locate blogs with a theme similar to your own blog or website (or whatever individual page you want to promote). Visit those blogs and leave a RELEVANT comment. By default, you can include a URL that will be linked from your name. If you’re creative, you might also find ways to include a URL inside your comment. Something along the lines of “Great info. If you need to find out more about xxx, here’s a great resource http… )

Now, I could spend the next 10 paragraphs explaining exactly how to use Comment Kahuna and giving tips on the type of comments to leave. But I won’t. Comment Kahuna comes with a very good user’s manual and a very good video. Quickly go through both of them before your first commenting session and you’ll be good to go.

Just a few last points…

- The first time you implement this strategy, it will take a little longer because you need to download and install the software and then learn how to use it. Next time around, however, you can add 10 or 20 comments in a matter of minutes. If you make it a habit to set aside 20 or 30 minutes each week to do a ‘blog commenting session’, pretty soon you’ll start to build up a very big collection of backlinks that will help increase your PageRank, your search engine positioning and, as a consequence, your overall traffic levels.

- Some blogs get a LOT of traffic. If your comments are useful/insightful, you can certainly expect to benefit from all that traffic to the tune of direct clicks on your links.

- Be sure to use this method wisely (leave relevant comments, don’t stuff your comments with links, etc…) and it will serve you well .

Okay, that’s it for this P.O.A. I hope you found it useful and I certainly hope you’ve put it into ACTION.

I’ll have another P.O.A. for you soon, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, you can get one extra link back to your website, by leaving acomment about this P.O.A. in the field provided below. If you have any additional tips to add — or if you’d like to see a P.O.A. related to a specific strategy, don’t hesitate to let me know.

All the best,

Michael
